Get the picture...

My plan is to eventually write a post every day, but obviously I'm slowly working up to that... bear with me!

In order to help you "get the picture" of our whole project, I'm going to post a bunch of pictures. This way you can see the craziness we are living in and also kind of get a feel for the end product (at least the layout).

Welcome to The Novice Suburbanite! After living in Chicago for five years, my husband and I decided we were truly meant for suburban life. So we scrimped and saved (kind of... we're terrible at saving $$), and bought our dream home in the charming suburb of Geneva. And by dream home I mean what will eventually be our dream home. We're completely gutting our 1900-era home, doing the work ourselves and on a budget.
In The Novice Suburbanite I plan to feature renovation stories, decorating experiments, recipes (eventually - it feels like we will never have a kitchen at this point - but we will!) and my efforts to acclimate to life in the suburbs.

Actually looks like an old house now huh? Best part - we found the original porch railings in the garage rafters! Stay tuned for the finished product!
